Learning to Pray in Circles

Learning to Pray in Circles

This Sunday I will finish our series of messages based out of John 17, concentrating on the final verses, 17:20-26. Read this a few times before we study. Read it carefully and slowly, and let it sink in what Jesus is praying about, and who he is praying for. He is praying for you! Almost 2000 years ago, the night that Jesus was arrested, he turned his attention in prayer to the heavenly Father in a final address. He prayed for himself (17:1-5), his intimate disciples (17:6-19), and then he prayed for you and me— those who would be coming in the future (17:20-26).

There is so much to learn from this prayer. But I am also using this prayer as a way for us to learn how to pray ourselves. Last week I left you what I believe can be a great guide to learning to pray daily for yourself. This Sunday morning, using John 17 as a template, I am going to walk us through how to pray for others, and ultimately how to pray for the world (download this week’s prayer guide here).

When Jesus prayed, he was walking into the Holy of Holies in the presence of the Father. This is exactly the privilege we have now when we come to the Father in prayer. I can meet the Father! So this Sunday when we meet together online, let’s open our Bibles and watch, learn and hear from the Savior. Let’s learn to go into the Holy of Holies with Christ and bring our requests to God.

Love you all.
