The Resurrection Gospel

The Resurrection Gospel

Resurrection. Gospel.

We hear these terms a lot in gospel churches, and rightfully so. But do you really understand the full impact of both of those words—resurrection and gospel? One is an event that happened at Easter, and the other is a message we have.

We are coming to the end of our third Wall (the Ekklesia—the set-apart and called-out ones) of theological understanding on how we are BUILDING HIS CHURCH.  Let’s remind ourselves again: what is the Church?  The Ekklesia—the Church—is the BODY OF CHRIST (1 Corinthians 12:27). In this study, we are following the storyline in Acts 8-20 of the planting of the Ekklesias, the churches. Then we are walking through a letter written to one of those planted churches, the letter we know as 1 Corinthians. We have walked through significant parts of this first letter to the Corinthians, and we have highlighted five erosive elements that can corrode and destroy the Body of Christ:

  • Shallowness
  • Unholy behavior
  • Persecution
  • Apathy
  • Heresy

This Sunday, we will focus on the word HERESY. Heresy is the perversion of the clear, unmistakable, core, centerpiece gospel message. Getting this right—what is the gospel and what is not—is not just a good idea; everything is built on the gospel.

As you prepare for this Sunday, take time to read through 1 Corinthians 15 several times slowly.  Underline it, contemplate it, pray over it. You will find that the center of it all is the RESURRECTION OF JESUS from the grave. As Christ’s Body, we only have this message to give the world.

See you Sunday morning at 10 a.m.!
