An Easter Poem

An Easter Poem

A triumphant ride into the town
Jesus was greeted with the cheers
Hosanna! proclaimed the people
Our king is finally here.

Now he stands in front of Pilate
No longer came the Cheers
Now changed to Shouts of crucify!
The Angry crowds did jeer

Then, on the cross, our Lord did hang
It is finished! His last cry
He suffered unimaginable agony
All for you and I

For three long days and three long nights
In the grave, his body lay
Those who loved and knew him
Thought he was there To stay

But on that early Sunday morn
The stone was rolled away
When the women came to see him
He was no longer where he lay

Sin and death are conquered!
With shouts of victory!
We no longer bear the debt
And live eternally
