The New Heaven and New Earth:  The Reality and Hope of Eternity

The New Heaven and New Earth:  The Reality and Hope of Eternity

Have you ever spent time thinking about what heaven will actually be like—not as a vague idea, but as a real place God has promised? As believers, heaven is our eternal home and our hope should be in the eternal promise of our Creator.  Scripture stretches our vision far beyond our human imagination and into the solid, stunning promise of a New Heaven and New Earth.

This Sunday we’ll be in Revelation 21 and 22, where John gives us a window into eternity: a city filled with God’s glory, a river of the water of life flowing from the throne, the Tree of Life bearing fruit without fail, and the breathtaking words that “the curse will be no more.” Even more: God’s servants will worship Him—and “they will see His face.”

The main point we’ll consider is simple but life-shaping: believers will joyfully inhabit the New Creation in service to the Lord for eternity. Revelation isn’t meant to be a puzzle we solve as much as a truth we trust—one that steadies us, reorders our priorities, and anchors our hearts in what cannot be taken away.

As you prepare for Sunday, consider:

  • When you think of “heaven,” what do you picture—and where might your imagination be too small?
  • What would it change about your week if you truly believed “the curse will be no more”?
  • Where are you trying to build a version of “heaven on earth,” and how is it failing to satisfy?
  • What might it look like to live as a citizen of heaven—this Thursday, this Saturday, this Monday?

Take a few minutes to read Revelation 21:21–22:5 before you come. Ask God to lift your eyes from what’s temporary to what’s eternal. Then join us Sunday as we set our minds on the coming Kingdom and the sure hope of life with Christ forever.
