Preparing for CIC Commitment Sunday

Preparing for CIC Commitment Sunday

Not unlike the GIC week in the fall (GLOBAL Impact Celebration) we are using this coming Sunday morning March 3 as a commitment Service to our CIC (COMMUNITY Impact Celebration) week at LifeWay. There are some differences though – as well as some strong similarities. The differences:

  • God calls us to support and send Gospel representatives to the world.
    • In the Fall the ask is a call for a prayerful financial commitment to missions.
    • In the Fall the ask is for a few who would consider an international short term mission trip – and even for life commitments to international/national missions.

So what is unique about our CIC commitment?

  • God planted you/us right here — in this community — and this is not a mistake.
  • God calls us to be Gospel representatives — right here — in your neighborhood — in this community.
    • The ASK is a commitment from each of us to discover what that means for us, group by group, and person by person.

As you prepare for this coming Sunday morning, I ask you to read and contemplate from a couple of important places in the book of Romans.

  • Romans 1:16-7
  • Romans 15:14-21. (Paying extra attention to 15:20-21)

My challenge to us as a church body this Sunday will be launched out of how Paul began his letter to the Romans, and how he ended his letter to the Romans. I believe that this is God’s challenge to us.

Come this Sunday morning and you will hear from me as well as Heather as we lay out what the ask is for us as a Church Body, and for each of us individually. Again, the context can be found in Romans 15:20-21. It is a powerful message and challenge.

See you Sunday morning
