Are you ready for your commitment?

This whole week we have focused on ways that we are invited by the Almighty God of the universe to partner with him in his work. A Christian leader a while back famously said, “Find out what God is doing, and then join him.” The beauty of this truth is that we actually do get to join God in his incredible work. He offers this partnership to his people (you and me), but are we truly ready to join him?

This is what Sunday, November 15, is all about. We call it “Commitment Sunday.” It is our chance to pray about, think about, meditate over our own personal response to what God has prompted us to do. Our theme all week has been partnership:

  • Partnering in Prayer
  • Partnering in Purpose
  • Partnering in Giving
  • Partnering in Going

This is a calling to our church collectively, but it is very much a challenge to each one of us individually. As you prepare for this Sunday’s worship, I am pleading with you all: the only way to come to worship is to prepare your hearts.

  • Take the time individually to consider how God is calling you.
  • Read in scripture:
    • Philippians 1:1-11
    • Romans 12:1-2
  • Talk to God about your situation. Then…
  • Prepare, along with the other members of this blessed church family, to submit your commitment to God.

Let’s join God in what he is doing in this broken world to bring his message of reconciliation.
