This coming Sunday I have asked Chris Thomas to bring our teaching message. We had Chris as a GIC missionary guest this past fall as he is the church planter at DOPE Church in Tacoma. He also is a neighbor as he lives right down the street. But there is a deeper reason that I have asked him specifically to come teach us. We are still using Romans a great deal as we learn about the power of the Gospel to bring salvation to all who believe. We are also, while studying Romans, learning how to share this Gospel to those who listen. Chris is doing this.
Several years back he and his wife began this church in Tacoma in order to concentrate on bringing the Gospel message to a specific group of people in our community. It is a very difficult challenge, but I have been terribly inspired by what he does and how this can inspire us. We are just a few weeks away from having our first ever “CIC” (Community Impact Celebration). The desired result of this is to grow in our commitment – church member by church member – to ask God to show us how to open the Gospel to our neighbors as well. Chris is a strong example of how to do this.
So, welcome Chris this Sunday. In order to prepare please read and meditate ahead on Romans 7:13-25. Chris will be using this in his message to us.
