Gospel Conversations Training: A Plea

Gospel Conversations Training: A Plea

In a few weeks, we will be hosting Gospel Conversations Training here at LifeWay. This is an all-day event on Saturday, February 26, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. We have announced this upcoming event on Sundays, written about it in the InnerView, and included it in our weekly 90-second updates—but I want to tell you again why is so important for you to spend a Saturday in late February for this training.

If you haven’t noticed, I have preached almost every week, for 5 months now, about Building His Church—a study to help us understand and apply the fact that “we are the Body of Christ and each of us is a member of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27). Beginning on Sunday, March 13, I am moving us to the fourth and final “wall” of the Church to understand how and why we are his Body in the world. I will give you the answer now: because we are his ambassadors—we speak for Christ when we say to the world, “Come back to God!” (2 Corinthians 5:18-21—read it!).

Gospel Conversations Training is not just something to fill our calendar on a late winter day. It is not just a how-to for those who want to be more serious about their faith. It is not just a lesson on how to hand out Bible tracts. This training is about learning and putting into practice HOW TO SPEAK THE GOSPEL to a world that does not know “its left hand from its right hand — [and is] living in spiritual darkness” (Jonah 4:11). It is about learning to live in a way that is the very reason you, as a believer, are still alive on this earth. It is about fulfilling the why and how of Christ saying that we are the Body of Christ. All the studying we will do this whole academic year is incomplete, null, void, and impotent unless we learn to speak the Gospel.

I am pleading with all our LifeWay family—leaders, newer members, children, youth; young, middle-aged, old; experienced, novices; and everyone in between.  Look carefully at your calendar. IF there is something on your schedule that cannot be moved, we will find a way for you to walk through this. But the best way to participate is in person on Saturday, February 26, at our church property (it will NOT be live streamed).

Meanwhile, I will see you Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
