A Plan for the New Year

A Plan for the New Year

Starting the New Year 2023 with a Bible-Reading Plan

Maybe you are spending your week cleaning up 2022 and getting your new 2023 calendar all ready. It’s about this time every year, between Christmas and New Year, that we all hear statements like…

“I sure hope ’23 is better than ’22!”

“I’m ready to turn the calendar over to 2023, because I was disappointed in 2022!”

“I’m determined to make the new year better than last year.”

“I’m starting healthier habits!”

Usually these sentiments involve subjects such as good health, an exercise routine, better handling of money—maybe a better job, or taking up a new hobby. You have no idea how many art classes, exercise groups, weight-loss programs, guitar lessons, etc., are fully occupied in January—and by February or March are fully vacated!

For many of us, the new year also brings about a new beginning of reading our bibles. “In this new year,” we resolve, “I am reading my bible all the way through!”  Let’s talk about that…

New Year Worship

On Sunday, January 1, we are starting our New Year with a worship service. Please note that we have moved the service time to 11 a.m. for this coming Sunday only! Why?

  • Many of us will be up until past midnight, and I want to give you an extra hour!
  • We will follow the worship service with LUNCH and a church family New Year’s Day party at noon! There will be a Bunco game (with a winner’s prize, of course) and a 9-square game for all those younger at heart.
  • We are even going to put the football game on the screen to enjoy together!

Most importantly, I will be teaching on the subject of HOW WE CAN READ OUR BIBLES in the New Year.

  • I will share practical steps that will be helpful in making this plan a reality.
  • I will offer physical examples of reading plans you can follow to guide you through the year.
  • I will have multiple study bibles on hand to help you find a study bible to invest in.
  • I will lay out why and how this is the most important habit of your entire life—yes, more than a better exercise routine, a new hobby, weight loss, or stronger money management.

In 2023, I want to do my part to help every one of us learn to not just read our bibles for one year, but to become people who read, study, meditate, and learn God’s Word for the rest of our lives—not bible readers for just this year, but for as long as we live.

Oh, yeah…Sunday’s menu!

  • Pizza
  • Soup
  • Salad

See you Sunday morning at 11 a.m. as we get to wish one another a happy New Year.
