As you all know our Church family and our Church leadership has been in conversation with Tim Kim for months now about the possibility of Tim coming as our next Sr Pastor. After months of visits via video conversations and much prayer we had Tim & Cassie and daughter JoJo come in person and spend a week with us in mid-May. Following their visit in person, we had several prayer meetings and discussion times with our LifeWay family asking God to guide our decision. On June 1 our Church family took an official vote on whether to extend a call to Tim Kim to not only join our Church Pastoral team but also become the next Sr Pastor here at LifeWay. This Church family officially voted almost unanimously to extend this invitation. Once this vote was taken and the results shared to the Kim’s, they in turn took a few days to pray and consult some trusted mentors about this important decision. Officially late last week they accepted our offer and are now coming to join us at LifeWay in either late August or very early September. They are finishing their ministry overseas in west Asia this month where they have been in ministry for over 7 years. They will return to the USA in late June and will be with their family in California for a couple of months before moving here to Washington and LifeWay. I (Billy) am overjoyed about this, and I call on our church to pray for them regularly and faithfully during their transition here.
The following is the acceptance letter that we read to our Church family this past Sunday.
Acceptance letter from Tim Kim:
Dear Lifeway family,
With hearts full of joy and gratitude, I write this letter of acceptance. Thank you for the love and hospitality you all have shown to us. We thank each of you that have prayed and participated in this pastoral search and vote.
God has guided us. Over the last few weeks, we have prayed, sought his word, listened to wise counsel, and then prayed some more. Thank you for entrusting this great responsibility and humbling privilege of serving as your next Senior Pastor. We trust that God has spoken through your 96% vote of affirmation and our prayerful acceptance.
We are eager to be with you all. (By the way, Joanna has been eager to return to Washington and Lifeway Church!)
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Jesus Christ throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
Grace and love,
Tim, Cassie, and Jojo
