The Ruler and The Rebels

The Ruler and The Rebels

The Ruler and The Rebels

Last week, we saw from Psalm 1 that the blessed person is the godly person. Psalm 2 is tightly tied to Psalm 1. Thematically, Psalm 1 and 2 focus on the blessed life. Psalm 1 begins with “The blessed person…” and Psalm 2 ends with “Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”

You might find interesting that in Jewish rabbinic tradition, Psalm 1 and 2 were read and used together. More importantly, Psalm 1 and 2 function as the entrance gate into the rest of the book.

Without Psalms 1 and 2, the book is without clear course and trajectory—the blessed, the happy, the approved by God only find their refuge in the Son—King Jesus.

This Sunday we will dive into this royal psalm—by God’s kindness, we will see how a gracious ruler deals with sinful rebels, like you and me. Thankfully, he is a God who laughs and deals graciously. Praise God!

Please prepare your hearts by meditating on Psalm 2. Here are some songs that you might enjoy listening to.
