This coming Sunday, November 23, at 10am, the LifeWay Church family will be coming together for a worship time totally dedicated to “Giving Thanks!” We did this last year and it was so meaningful. This simple article is to strongly encourage you to get ready so that YOU and I — all of us can truly participate in the most meaningful of ways. Here is what to expect at the worship service:
- Food: We will all be gathering around tables in the auditorium. At each table will be food. Yes Food!!!! (it is Thanksgiving, so how can you gather without food!!??) There will not be Turkey (you will have to wait until Thursday for that) but there will be meats, cheese, crackers, and grapes.
- Cards: We will all have an opportunity to write a note(s) of thanksgiving to someone.
- Praise & Thanks Cards to God: We will have an opportunity to write out a thanks to what God has done.
- Scriptures of Thanksgiving will be read around the room by many of you.
- Thanksgiving Worship Music: Congregationally we will join our voices in praise and thanks.
Your assignment is to identify one or more of those special passages from God’s Word that help give thanks. Be ready to share them with others. Come ready to worship and enjoy the family of Faith.
So… you might ask, what is MY Scripture of Thanksgiving? I have plenty, but this is the one that I tend to go to and bring it to us Sunday morning:
Philippians 1:3-5 “I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Happy Thanksgiving!
See you Sunday morning. Billy
