Scheduling updates from Pastor Billy – March 13

Part 1: Current Plan for LifeWay Events

Sunday services

This coming Sunday, March 15, the church will be open. We are a people led by the Holy Spirit to pray for and stand with each other and to pray for the lost and searching in the world. That is exactly what we are going to do. We want no one to feel pressured to interact, but for those who choose to attend, we will offer the usual two services at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with these changes:

  • Multiply! Buliisa and the Multiply sermon series have been postponed (more on that below). Instead, these services will offer time for prayer and worship, including a message about our calling to bring the gospel of Christ into a world in crisis and gripped by fear.
  • There will be no child care, no KidVenture, and no regular LifeWay Youth activities this Sunday.
  • Worship (including sound/tech) will proceed as planned. If you are a worship/tech team member, please watch for a separate email with further details.
  • If you are sick or at-risk — PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND this Sunday’s services. Use your best judgment not only for your sake, but the sake of the others around you.

What about the next few weeks of Sundays? I have learned that it’s difficult, if not impossible, to make concrete plans too far out — government and social pronouncements happen so quickly. However, here is what we will do for sure!

  • Sunday Streaming: Right now we are putting together the tools needed to stay connected as a church family through live streaming of our services. This will be in place by Sunday, March 22. There may or may not be a public worship service that day; however, we will stay connected no matter what, even if through technology. Stay tuned for LifeWay updates and news next week.

Multiply! Buliisa postponed

We have decided to postpone Multiply! Buliisa and all related events. It has become apparent in the last 48 hours that we have no hope of making this event “normal” in light of the current crisis. We will return to the campaign when we feel it can receive the full participation it deserves.

If you have already participated with a donation, event registration, a cookie order, or personal multiplying efforts:

We have compiled a set of FAQs to address many of the questions you may have. If your question is not addressed here, get in touch with Heather Althoff or the church office so we can help you.

Midweek groups and other events

  • The Church Grounds Work Party (March 14, 10 a.m. – noon) is continuing as planned.
  • There will be no in-person LifeWay Youth midweek gatherings until schools in the Federal Way school district are back in session. However, plans are underway that will hopefully allow the youth to continue to engage in community online. If you are a student or the parent of a student, please watch for details and updates from youth director Kevin P.
  • Home groups and small groups — I encourage you to please continue meeting, using your good judgment based on health and physical issues. Small groups are the best way to live out your discipleship life. This is a period of time when this aspect of church life can shine.
